Help a family in Colombia, directly
On August 10, 2026, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck western Colombia, with its epicenter in San José del Palmar, Chocó. Thousands of families lost their homes. This site was built by one Colombian from Pereira so those families can ask for help in their own words — and so you can help them without anyone in the middle.
This site never touches money.
There is no donation button, no fees and no account for donors. Every family publishes their own bank or mobile-wallet details, and you send your help straight to them. Nothing passes through us.
How it works
- 1A family publishes their caseThey tell their story, add photos or a short video, and verify their phone number with an SMS code. One case per phone number.
- 2You read the real storiesBrowse the cases, filter by town or by what people need most — housing, food, water, medicine, tools.
- 3You help whoever moves youReveal their payment details or message them on WhatsApp, and send your help directly to that person.
Sending money from abroad
Be aware of this before you start: families receive help through Nequi, Daviplata, a Bre-B key or an account at any Colombian bank — savings or checking, whichever they use. These are all domestic Colombian payment systems. If you hold a Colombian account — as many Colombians abroad do — you can transfer in seconds.
If you do not, a remittance app can deposit straight into their Nequi or Daviplata, or into their bank account — you do not need to open anything or agree anything with the family first. Bre-B keys are the one exception: they only work inside Colombia, so if a case shows only a key, message the family and ask for one of the others.
Sending from outside Colombia?
The accounts are Colombian — Nequi, Daviplata, Bre-B or a bank — but you can still send to them. Here's how.
Types of cases
- Families in need — people who lost their home or livelihood and need material support.
- Missing people — families searching for a relative. These cases carry no payment details at all, to protect families from fake-reward scams. If you have information, contact them on WhatsApp.
- Animal shelters — shelters and foundations caring for rescued animals.
Give carefully
- Every phone number here is verified by SMS, but we cannot verify that every story is true. Read them and use your judgement.
- Give an amount you can afford to lose, and prefer to help several families a little rather than one a lot.
- Be suspicious of anyone who contacts you outside this site asking for money or claiming to collect on our behalf. We never do that.
The cases themselves are written by the families, in Spanish. Your browser can translate them for you, and any translation tool will do a decent job with them.
